About Angela

Angela Parrino, formerly a tenured Associate Professor of the MA in TESOL Program of the School of Education at CUNY-Hunter College, received her BA from SUNY/Stony Brook and her MA and Ph.D. from New York University. Angela has both teaching and staff development experience in the areas of English as a Second Language, Bilingual, and Foreign Language Education; she’s trilingual (English, Spanish and Italian) and a published author. She has taught in New York City public schools and colleges as well as abroad in South America and Europe. She has made numerous presentations on varied topics in education and language learning.

Her foray into healthcare began with her father’s hemorrhagic cerebellar stroke in 1997. Before pursuing PA studies, she shadowed a medical team at New York Cornell (Pediatric Endocrinology), at NYU Medical Center (Pediatric Oncology and Epilepsy Unit), St.Vincent’s (varied hospital departments with a special focus on OR and ED) and Cabrini Hospice (Bereavement). In 2004, she worked as a translator and surgical secretary in Iquitos, Peru for Interplast, a non-profit organization that provides gratis surgeries for indigenous children with physical defects.

Angela was Director of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Phillips Beth Israel School of nursing from 2014-2016. She is now teaching graduate courses in Applied Linguistics at CUNY-QC, the CMSV and the CNR. She is the principal of GP’s Honey Tomes, a company dedicated to the production of Wellness materials for children and adults since November 2009.
